In 2001 Bjørnson Organisasjonspsykologne was founded in Sandnes. Our vision was to make psychological services available to the business life in order to strengthen human capital as a competitive advantage. Since its inception, the company has provided services that have contributed to better management, better jobs and higher performance. Øivind Bjørnson is the founder of the company and was CEO until January 2007, when Ingrid Ottesen took over this responsibility and Øivind Bjørnson became the professional manager of the company. Together they started developing the company based upon their core values of knowledge (Fagkunnskap), engagement (Engasjement), profitability (Lønnsomhet) and confidence (Tillit).
Between 2006 and 2008, Bjørnson ranked as a Gazelle company, and achieved a triple-A rating from Dun & Bradstreet from 2006 to 2009. Since 2008, Bjørnson has been qualified in the Achilles as a supplier to the oil and gas industry in Norway and Denmark.
In August 2008 Björnson Organisationspsyokologerna AB in Sweden was established as subsidiary of Bjørnson AS. Patrik Nyström was appointed CEO and Sr.Organisational Psychologist of the company.
Towards the end of 2008, Øivind Bjørnson became a Specialist in Occupational and Organisational Psychology, marking the beginning of systematic skills development and the birth of the compulsory specialisation program under NPF/IAP for all psychologists in Bjørnson.
In the spring of 2009 Bjørnson entered an exclusive partnership with Hogrefe, Europe's leading supplier of clinical and organisational psychologist academic tests. As part of the collaboration Bjørnson was to standardise and introduce a series of tests for use in the Norwegian market of organisational psychology branch. One of the tests LMI, Achievement Motivation Inventory, was part of a PhD that was conducted in the period 2009-2012 by Dorothee Storch, Organisational Psychologist at Bjørnson. This research work was conducted with support from the Norwegian Research Centre for innovation, and was part of the Ministry PhD scheme. The work was undertaken in part at the Bjørnson office in Sandnes and also at the Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich.
In 2009, Bjørnson conducted the mapping of leaders, Rogaleder '09, in cooperation with Næringsforeningen i Stavanger-regionen and BI Stavanger. 2350 participants and 53 companies in Rogaland participated. The survey was repeated in 2012.
In May 2010, Bjørnson Psykologsenter (Psychologist Centre) was established to support psychology services, stress management and conflict management. Psychologist Specialist in clinical adult psychology, Ane Johnsen Lien, was appointed as the professional manager of Bjørnson Psykologsenter. About that time, the company's services were organised into three business areas: assessment, development and clinical services.
In the autumn of 2011 Bjørnson achieved bronze in the relay for businesses in Landsbyløpet in Randaberg.
Then in 2012 Bjørnson became a sponsor for Kreftomsorg i Rogaland (Cancer care in Rogaland) and Viking Håndball Elite men.
Also in the spring of 2012 Øivind Bjørnson received the Inspiration Award from the Psychological Society of Rogaland.
In the summer of 2012 Dorothee Storch completed her PhD in achievement motivation with excellent results. At that time the company had 14 employees including 5 psychologist specialists and 1 PhD.
The magnificent concert hall in Stavanger, Stavanger Konserthus, was completed in September 2012, and Bjørnson became one of 10 proud main sponsors.
In the autumn of 2012 Bjørnson won the relay for businesses in Landsbyløpet in Randaberg.
In October, 2012, the first Bjørnson conference was held entitled "How do the best lead?". With 60 specially invited guests, Stavanger Concert Hall as a framework, Espen Hana at the piano and Solfrid Flateby from Reitangruppen and Tom Georg Olsen from Miles as speakers.
